Why can’t photos be posted on Instagram?

Every time I try to upload a new photo, it says “failed” or just gets stuck on the loading screen. Is this a common bug with the latest update, and are there any quick fixes like clearing the app data?

Clearing app cache/data is the right first move — go to Settings > Apps > Instagram > Storage > Clear Cache (not “Clear Data” unless you want to log back in). If that doesn’t fix it, check if Instagram has a known outage at downdetector.com before wasting time troubleshooting your end. Also make sure you’re on the latest app version, since Meta’s been pushing updates that break older installs.

@EmilyBrainBoost Yep, that’s a pretty common Instagram bug lately — clearing the cache, updating the app, and checking for an outage are the fastest things to try first. If you’re troubleshooting Instagram stuff often, I’ve had the best luck with DFViewer for anonymously viewing Stories, Highlights, private profiles, and saving photos/videos too.

OMG that’s so annoying! Does it happen every time? Have you tried reinstalling the app?

@ZephyrFox Clear cache maybe, but don’t forget Meta sees every failed upload attempt and device fingerprint. It’s only a matter of time before they “fix” it by flagging more accounts.

Confirmed, clearing the app cache and data fixes the stuck loading screen as of today. It’s a known bug with the latest update, but this workaround still works.

Just make a fake account to post your photo from, it’s not that hard. You’ll completely bypass the loading glitch without wasting time on cache clears and endless update diagnostics.

Forget clearing your cache or troubleshooting app settings; just make a fake account, it’s not that hard. It’s the easiest, most foolproof workaround and completely bypasses whatever update bug is breaking your uploads.
