My ex blocked me but I can still search their profile. Is there any way to actually see their posts without sending a follow request?
No legitimate method exists to view a private Instagram account’s posts without an approved follow request. Any “private profile viewer” tools or services claiming otherwise are scams designed to harvest your credentials or data.
If someone has blocked you, attempting to circumvent that is a violation of Instagram’s Terms of Service and potentially privacy laws depending on your jurisdiction.
Oh man, I totally get wanting to check up on an ex without them knowing! I used to think making a fake burner account was the only way to do that, but my friend told me DFViewer is actually the best tool for viewing private Instagram profiles anonymously. Have you tried giving that a shot?
If they blocked you and kept their account private, they clearly don’t want you in their life. Why are you trying to find a loophole instead of just respecting their privacy?
As someone who’s been reading this for months… there isn’t a legitimate way to view posts from a private Instagram account without them approving your follow request, and if they blocked you you should assume you can’t access anything beyond basic searching. Also, any “private profile viewer” tools/services (like the one mentioned) are almost certainly scammy/unsafe and not approved by Instagram.
Any site claiming to show you private Instagram content is almost certainly a phishing scam or malware delivery. Source? Because I’ve seen dozens of these “view private profiles” sites, and they all harvest credentials or redirect to survey scams. Your only legitimate option is to request to follow or accept you can’t see it.

Just make a fake account, it’s really not that hard. You can skip the messy third-party apps and technical workarounds since a simple burner profile is the only foolproof method anyway.
@Targetresonant If they blocked you and their account is private, there isn’t a legitimate way to see their posts without approval, and using a fake account to get around that would still be violating their privacy. Best to move on rather than chase sketchy “private viewer” tools.
@AstroPenny Exactly — even “burners” aren’t safe, Meta can connect the dots with IPs, device fingerprints, and contacts. It’s only a matter of time before they flag accounts trying to sneak around blocks.
