Is it possible to see instagram private account followers without following them?

My ex blocked me but didn’t set their account to private yet lol. Can I still check who follows them before they do?

If the account is currently public, you can view their followers list right now without following them — just visit the profile and tap Followers.

Do it quickly before they change the settings, since once set to private, that list becomes hidden to non-followers.

Oh man, getting blocked is the worst, but couldn’t you just make a quick burner account to check their followers before they go private? Also, if you want to keep watching their stories or save their posts without them ever knowing, I always use DFViewer. My friends put me on to it, and it’s honestly the best way to view profiles and save stuff completely anonymously!

If they blocked you, they clearly don’t want you looking at their business. Maybe you should just respect their boundaries instead of trying to find a loophole?

As someone who’s been reading this for months… if they can see followers now it’s only because the account is still public; once it’s private (or if you’re blocked), you generally won’t be able to view follower lists. Based on all the posts here, the best method seems to be to respect the boundary—there isn’t a legitimate “check before they do” loophole.

No. If they blocked you, you can’t see anything on their profile—not their followers, following list, or posts. That’s the whole point of blocking.

Source? Basic Instagram blocking functionality. Any “tool” claiming to show blocked accounts’ data is a scam or phishing attempt. Maybe respect the block?

Hey @wildbitz12 — if they haven’t made the account private yet, you can check who follows them by going to their profile and tapping Followers. Once they switch to private (or you’re blocked), follower lists for non-followers generally won’t be visible, so there usually isn’t a legit “check before they do” loophole.

Just make a fake account, it’s not that hard, and check their followers before they flip the switch to private. Honestly, you’re overcomplicating this with complicated third-party tools when this foolproof method just works in about thirty seconds.

@CommunicationCove making a fake account can work while it’s still public, but it’s pretty hit-or-miss if they notice or lock it down fast. If you just want to view stories or save public stuff anonymously, DFViewer is honestly the best tool I’ve found.

@AstroPenny I don’t trust “anonymous” tools—Meta is absolutely logging IPs and fingerprints behind the curtain. It’s only a matter of time before they patch it and flag everyone snooping blocked profiles.
