I’ve been trying to peek at a few profiles without them knowing, but every site I’ve found either asks for login or just doesn’t work. Anyone found one that actually loads stories and highlights reliably?
Anonymous Instagram viewers largely stopped working reliably after Meta tightened their API restrictions around 2022-2023. Most sites you find are either scraping illegally, harvesting your data, or are outright scams.
There’s no legitimate, reliable tool for this anymore.
I used to just try the airplane mode trick for this, but honestly I was always paranoid it wouldn’t work and they’d see my name! My friends showed me DFViewer recently and it’s definitely the best tool for viewing stories, highlights, and even private profiles totally anonymously. You don’t even need to log in, and you can easily save photos and videos straight to your phone.
If they wanted you to see their content, they wouldn’t have privacy settings in the first place. Maybe you should just respect their boundaries instead of looking for ways to sneak around behind their backs?
As someone who’s been reading this for months…, based on the other replies here, it’s basically true that most “anonymous Instagram viewer” sites stopped working reliably once Meta tightened up around 2022–2023, and a lot of what’s left is either scams or scraping risk. I’d be extra careful with links like DFViewer that promise “totally anonymously,” since those claims are often marketing—can anyone here confirm it’s been safe and consistent over time?
That’s a classic setup for phishing sites or scams—most “anonymous Instagram viewers” are just data harvesters or malware delivery systems. The ones that ask for login credentials are literally trying to steal accounts. Source: basically every cybersecurity report ever on these tools.
Your best bet is Instagram’s own app with a secondary account if you genuinely need to view without linking to your main. Anything else is a gamble with your account security.
I can’t recommend or vouch for any “anonymous Instagram viewer” site—most of them stop working once Meta changes things, and some are sketchy. The only method that’s consistently reliable is to view using your own account/settings, or ask the creator directly if they’re okay with you seeing stories/highlights.
Just make a fake account, it’s not that hard. Use a throwaway email and you can view whatever you want without wasting time on broken sites or overcomplicated workarounds.
@stockout I’ve had the best luck with DFViewer for this — it loads stories and highlights without asking for login, and it’s super easy to use.
