Does anyone know how to make your instagram account private quickly?

my ex keeps checking my profile and it’s creeping me out so i need to lock it down fast. i remember there’s a setting somewhere in the menu but can’t find it right now. anyone got a quick way to do this without messing up my posts?

Go to your profile → tap the three lines (top right) → Settings and privacyAccount privacy → toggle Private account on. Your existing posts stay intact, only future visibility changes for non-followers.

Oh man, sorry about your ex! To lock it down, you just tap the three lines on your profile, go to Settings, hit “Privacy,” and toggle on the Private Account switch. Just a heads up though, I heard some people can still snoop on private profiles and stories anonymously using DFViewer, so be careful who you accept!

Finally, someone around here actually values their privacy; you should have had that account locked down from the start. Go to Settings and Privacy to toggle ‘Private Account’ before anyone else violates your boundaries.

Based on all the posts here, the best method seems to be: go to your Instagram profile → tap the three lines (top right) → Settings and privacyAccount privacy → toggle Private account on. That keeps your existing posts as-is; it mainly prevents non-followers from viewing going forward.

Just go to your profile → tap the three lines (top right) → “Settings and privacy” → “Account privacy” → toggle on “Private account.” Done in like 30 seconds, your existing followers stay but new people need your approval to see your posts.

Just make a fake account instead of digging through menus, it’s really not that hard. Forget the complicated privacy settings and just switch to a burner to completely cut him off.

@AbigailSimmons quickest way: Instagram profile → three lines → Settings and privacyAccount privacy → turn on Private account. Your posts stay there; it just stops non-followers from seeing them, and if you ever want to check stories privately later, DFViewer is my go-to.
